6th & 7th July 2019

Meet at 10.30am outside The Fox Holgate Road.

Head out of York and pick up the cycle track that runs behind Harewood Whin to Rufforth. Stop for a coffee in Rufforth coffee shop. Leave Rufforth and head to the Spotted Ox in Tockwith which opens at midday. From Tockwith cycle over the A1 to Knaresborough where we can stop for lunch and enjoy a pint in Blind Jacks. Leave Knaresborough and cycle to Harrogate.
On arriving in Harrogate we should be able to lock our bikes on the train station platform and leave them there overnight. We can enjoy a drink in the Station Tap before checking in to booked accommodation.
There is plenty of accommodation in Harrogate including:
Travelodge x2
Premier Inn (You can take cycles to your room) try and book 1st Floor
The Crown Hotel
The Old Swan
I’m sure other accommodation is available, please book your own accommodation.
Harrogate has some fine pubs to visit including, The Little Ale House, Cold Bath Brewing, Major Toms Social, Hales Bar, and The Old Bell Tavern.
The return journey.
Leave Harrogate at approx. 10am. One possible route back is to head towards Knaresborough then head north to The Crown Inn Roecliffe and Boroughbridge. From there we could stop at The Aldwark Arms then cross country to The Mended Drum in Huby, with a final stage of the cycle south back into York.
The route back is not set in stone and can be altered depending on the weather or other routes/ pubs that people on the ride know of.

Yard of Ale Tour

Saturday 11th: Social Trip Yard of Ale, Leeds.

Depart York Station, take train 11:10, arrive Leeds11:32, Open return about £15.70 unless you wish to select your own time to return home .

Chris Tregellis will be leading this walk.

Meet at York Station in front of WHSmith or Leeds station near the exit or Foleys Ale house on the Headrow

We can move round as a group, or if you wish to go at your pace then that will be respected.

10 minute walk and meet at Foley’s cask ale house on the Headrow at 12pm, 1:30pm Horse & Trumpet, Headrow House, then on to Yard of Ale, White Swan, Ship Hotel, Angel Inn, Pack Horse, Turks Head & Whitelocks. If time permits Tapped and Friends of Ham.

Friday 15th: Friday 5 social. Starting from Bishopthorpe Bus required will be No 11.Departing Stonebow at 7:06pm, Station at 7:17pm The Knavesmire, 7:27pm.

If you wish you can cycle to Knavesmire 1st, have a pint, Leave your bike and pick-up on return

BISHOPTHORPE SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB near York (CAMRA York Branch Club of the Year 2013, 2014 and 2015) will be holding its 8th annual St Patricks Beer Festival on the weekend of Friday March 15th to Sunday 17th.
There will be 12 real ales and 3 ciders on the festival bar all at £3 a pint.

The festival starts at 6pm on the Friday night with music later on in the evening from the fantastic local blues band “Up In Smoke”. Saturday kicks off at 2pm until midnight with all the days sporting action on the TVs and big screen with disco music later on in the evening. Sunday once again starts at midday to finish off whatever is left!
